  Leadership

I believe I was given one of the world’s most outstanding assignments: Dr. Martin Luther King Junior. Although, to the world, he was one of the most exceptional leaders of all time; the main thing that made him one of the best leaders was that he wanted togetherness At whatever cost.
Besides being known for wanting unity for the world, he was also known for his famous speech I have a dream And his march on Washington DC.
If I can be sincere, it does not seem easy to speak about him, especially in this generation, because of the difficult circumstances. But nevertheless, unfortunately, the nation we live in today is against everything Dr. King stood for.
Today’s world is about weapons and the murders of innocent people who never thought their lives would be cut short just because they might have been at the wrong place or were the wrong color.
Words no longer make us a powerful nation today; what makes someone powerful is what they choose to carry around their waist is what makes them matter to the world.
I honestly believe if Dr. King were alive today, it would be a shame to see the digression we have had as a nation just with the brutal murders of GeorgeFloyd Breonna Taylor and Trayvon Martin, to name a few.
It is disgusting to know that he died wanting and asking for unity, not division or discrimination because of the color of someone’s skin or your upbringing.
I believed that by now, we would be so far from racism and just killing people in general.
Still, as I said before, we have strayed back into looking at each other skin color instead of looking at each other as humans, the way Dr. Martin Luther King dreams.
I hope for our nation to be seen as human, not color. Dr. Martin Luther King was the kind of man that believed in nonviolence; he thought that if someone slapped you, you turn the other cheek.
Many people felt that his assassination came about because he was influential. The world was not ready for a man of color to have so much power in his hand.
My personal belief is that he was a powerful black man, and he was also against violence.
Dr. King preferred giving words power, but today, words don’t mean as much as someone having the ability to take physical actions against someone else.
One of the most potent things Dr. King was trying to teach the world is that we don’t have run toward violence to make a difference. But unfortunately, violence has become the easy way for the world to deal with everyday problems instead of having a conversation like humans.
I understand that having conversations seems to be overrated. Still, it is terrifying to watch innocent people die over nothing or not have the chance to say goodbye because someone full of hate decides to take it upon themself to take the life of a human.
However, his nonviolent attitude scared many people because many thought that the only way you could get ahead in life was through violence, and he was trying to make a difference by just using his words.
It is challenging to erase ignorance, but it is so easy to teach racism. What I am having a complex time understanding is why we continue in this date in age to pass on so much hate. I feel we as a nation should be so farther ahead of racism that people have fought day and night so we can enjoy each other’s company without fear of hate.
The sad part about it is that being Americans, we constantly hear that we live in a melting pot of different colors. Yet, we struggle to accept those different colors because we are working on getting ourselves, so the hate we have is the same we pass on to each other.
The only way we can stop the animosity is by learning that our uniques are what could make us a powerful nation as long as we don’t fear each other.
